Today I woke up giddy and excited like a little girl. I had this wonderful feeling that things are gonna be amazing for the wedding. Unfortunately real life kicked in and soon after I was feeling sick to my stomach and then my car was acting up on the way to work. Bigtime reality check.

I got the dress, finished the place cards and finally talked to the organist today. I need to make a new to do list tomorrow.

So I finally booked an appt. with a make up lady at Lancome. She did an

on me this Friday. Now all I need is a hair person! I am going tomorrow to the salon at the mall because it would be wonderful to get my hair done and then walk over to Lancome and do that in the same place. Although I might look a bit ridiculous walking around the mall with my veil but oh well.

This weekend we basically just worked on the apt. so the next few days will be crazy with last minute preparations. First things first, tomorrow I pick up my dress!

Stress

I don't know how people do those 200-300 person weddings. They must have wedding planners. I am barely keeping it together with only 100 guests.

I am so stressed out I haven't gotten my period. This is just great, I will probably get it on the wedding day.

Damian is working (kicking and screaming) on the pictures for the frames. He hates this wedding stuff. But hey, so do I at this point.

Ok, I know it's crazy. But we have 15 days left until the wedding and I've suddenly decided I want programs. We have black ribbon left, I have thick white paper at work.... Hmmm I think this is still possible! Damian's gonna kill me.

Booked a limo today (sorry gurgle couldn't wait!). I just grabbed the yellow pages and started calling companies.

I have a meeting with a florist tomorrow for some last minute things.

I need to get in touch with Monica for pictures this week.

I am HOPING to get everything done and settled (at least the major things) by this Saturday. Then the last two weeks I can focus on fixing up the condo and enjoying it!

Wedding Night Hotel

First dress fitting is done and finally found shoes. No limo or altar flowers yet. Those are the only 2 things I am missing.

Make up lady came yesterday but I am definitely not using her for wedding day. She was using REVLON cosmetics and she made me look like a clown. What a waste of money. I may just buy all new stuff and do it myself.

Our Invitations

I don't know how long these will be visible for because my hosting place SUCKS but anyway if you can't see them please check back tomorrow :)

That is the invitation how it looks when opened. The RSVP and DIRECTIONS cards go tucked into the bottom pocket. The white RSVP envelope goes BEHIND the directions card so you normally can't see it. The idea is something like this.

I wish I could have gotten a better scan of how it all comes together. I also sealed the black envelopes with red wax and then the whole thing went inside a white outer envelope. All the materials (except for some paper) are from MyGatsby.com. The picture behind the transparent paper with the wording is a picture of the Spanish Monastery where we are getting married. It's hard to tell but it is the same red as the cards. All together it was A LOT of work. More than I expected. But I couldn't have gotten anything like this from a store.

Finally found shoes

They aren't the prettiest things but at least I will be comfortable. Today we are doing a walk through at the apartment at 3, and I have my fitting at 5. Rush rush rush...

Damian and I have been getting really snappy with each other because there is so much to do and the stress, etc. So today I am writing up a TO DO LIST for him (including due dates) and after I give it to him I am not saying one word to remind him about any of those things. This way I won't drive him nuts.

Apparently his mom talks non stop about the wedding to him so he is getting bombarded from both sides. :)

Monday is the closing on our condo so hopefully we can go the same day and get the marriage license. I have to find out when the South Dade court house opens because I am NOT going to the downtown one. It is such a mess to get into.

Finally it arrived!! I am leaving it at the shop because my first fitting is on the 3rd so it would be pointless to bring it home when it will probably get damaged anyway. I can hardly wait. :)

Everything wedding wise is going well. The hotel we wanted to use is completely booked so we are looking for another one. And my father and brother haven't been measured for tuxes but I told my mom I am not dealing with them. I have enough to worry about without babysitting the "boys" too. They just need to get it together and GO.

I also found a necklace that is perfect with the dress and matches the tiara. I bought it at a store but I found a picture of it here. It is so much prettier in person though. But you get the idea!

PS Is it all right if I go to the wedding with my momma, that way I can go to micky's mom's 50th b-day party afterwards with her and don't have to drive alone. Don't get food for neither of us, since I will only be at the reception for a little bit.

So I guess the thirty times I have talked to her recently she neglected to mention that Miguel's mother is having a 50th birthday party on the same day as my wedding. I guess we all have our priorities in life and apparently the wedding of her friend is less important than a birthday party.

I have been getting RSVP's like mad. Including the first one with no name written in (of course I numbered them so I know who it is) and the number "1" scratched out and "2" written in. Uh yeah we invited you alone on purpose dumb ass.

On a good note we went to see the priest today and discussed the ceremony. He seems very nice and very non-fanatical. We stayed for the mass and it was very relaxed and beautiful. We talked about doing the english and spanish thing and he is very comfortable with it. He says he did two weddings last weekend just like that. One less thing to worry about!

We got the bands today :)

I got Sara's flower girl dress on Ebay. It's amazing the deals you can get on there. All the satin dresses I saw in the stores were $100-$200!

The home stretch

So I have almost a month to go until the wedding. Things are coming together nicely. All that's left to do are minor things, but a lot of them!

This Saturday Damian is off to do his bachelor thing (they are going to Islands of Adventure) and I am off to look for jewelry for the wedding. I also need to stop at a flower shop and order a few arrangements for the altar.

So here is the latest to do list:

-Order altar flowers and bouquets
-Find jewelry and shoes
-Make sure my Dad and brother get fitted for tuxes
-Do a hair trial run and decide on hair person
-Send paperwork and lists back to DJ company
-Call priest and set up last appt.
-Get marriage license from courthouse
-Remind Damian to go ahead and book room at Trump hotel
-Make sure all money is together to make final payments to vendors

I am sure there are ten million details I am forgetting but right now I don't care :)

Back on track

I am slightly getting over the fit I have been throwing for the past few weeks. The fact is, all the deposits are in and its way too late to elope. So we are stuck, might as well make the best of it.

Last night I found a new caterer. He is cheaper, has better food, and is all around more professional than the one I had. I cancelled with her this morning and our refund check is on its way.

The only major thing left to do is flowers.

$500 for five hours. I got us an extra hour with my super negotiating skills. :) She is faxing me the contract, I gave her $160 deposit by phone.

Fuck waiting for Damian to do it. I am so over his procrastinating. The fact is, no matter how excited he may be about getting married, he could care less about the details. Whatever.

None looked really good on me though. On Saturday Im going to Alfred Angelo and I think I will have better luck there.

I have been completely slacking in the wedding department. I don't have all the stuff OR the final version yet for the wedding invites. I also went dress shopping for the first time this weekend and realized its going to be much harder than I thought. Those dresses are NOT flattering at all. It also didn't help that I wasn't planning on going dress shopping, we just kind of ended up there.

I also must say for the record I HATE SALESPEOPLE. I hate car salesman, real estate people, telemarketers, you name it. And now I am discovering this whole new breed of sales people called WEDDING SALESMEN and they are just as bad as the rest.

So this week I need to get to steppin on the invitations if I want them out by the 25th. And I also need to get organized for this weekends dress shopping marathon. :)

Weekend Plans

I can't believe its the last weekend in July already. I called the store and my paper order is in. Did they call me when it arrived like they said? Of course not.

So this weekend I need to get some things done:
-Pick up paper from invite store. See if they have red paper.
-Go to Mens Wearhouse and buy Damian a suit for 2 weddings coming up. While there also pick out tuxes for our wedding.
-Go to Burdines Dadeland, buy dress for those 2 weddings and also check and see if registry is OK or needs updating.
-Bed, Bath & Beyond. Damian says the comforter I picked looks purple in the store (its blue-ish silver on the website) I need to see it.
-Work with the hot glue and the black ribbon I ordered.

I also need to sit down and do some serious number crunching. I think we are ok as far as our budget but I want to make sure I haven't overspent.
